Draft — to be reviewed

Who runs Sports Field

Sports Field is run by Richard Kerr-Bell, based in Lower Hutt, New Zealand. For privacy questions, email hello@sportsfield.co.nz.

What we collect and why

We collect the details you give us when you join the waitlist, create an account, report a game, send feedback or contact us. These may include your name, email, town or region, sports interests, organisation, optional phone number and message. For signed-in accounts we also keep saved favourites, in-app alerts and report flags.

We use this information to run Sports Field, manage listings, reply to enquiries, send requested launch updates and improve the service. We collect visit statistics and our service providers may process technical information such as IP addresses and error logs. We never sell your personal information.

Game details you submit may be published after the required checks. Never include names, photos or personal details of players under 18. Report details may be processed by our AI service to provide a short summary for the administrator.

Your location stays on your device

If you choose “Use my location”, your browser uses it on your device to work out distances to games. Sports Field never stores your precise location in our database or account. You can decline and choose a suburb instead. Map tiles come from OpenStreetMap; like other website requests, map requests expose your IP address and the map area being viewed to that provider.

Where information is stored

Form entries, account records, game reports and favourites are stored with our database provider through Lovable Cloud. Hosting, sign-in, email and AI providers process the information needed to deliver their services. Information may be processed outside New Zealand; the provider locations and overseas privacy safeguards still need to be confirmed as part of this draft review.

How long we keep information

We keep information only for as long as it is needed for the purpose we collected it, including running your account, managing the launch and responding to enquiries, or where the law requires it. We review information that is no longer needed for deletion. Specific retention periods and backup deletion arrangements are to be confirmed during review; this draft does not promise an automatic deletion schedule.

Your rights

Under the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020, you can ask to access your personal information and request corrections. You can also ask us to delete information we no longer need or stop sending launch updates. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request, and will normally respond to access and correction requests within 20 working days.

If you are unhappy with how we handle your information, contact Richard first. You can also complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner.
